Rubicon Programs’ Stances

At Rubicon Programs, our work is grounded in our core values of hope, humility and justice. We have taken stances on these issues that deeply impact the communities we serve because we believe that neutrality is not an option when lives and futures are at stake. Our stances reflect who we are – an organization committed to dismantling systems of oppression and building a future rooted in fair chance. We stand alongside our East Bay community, walking with individuals impacted by incarceration, systemic racism, and economic inequality. These values are not just aspirational – they guide how we show up every day: as service providers, employers, partners, and advocates. Our stances reflect our courage to speak up and act upon the systemic changes needed for a future where everyone has access to opportunity and economic wellbeing.

Our Anti-Racism Stance

We unequivocally oppose racism. Rubicon is an anti-racism organization committed to rooting out systemic oppression in all forms – internally and externally. This stance guides our workplace culture, services and community relationships.

As an organization, we commit to:

  • Examine and recalibrate power dynamics and resource allocation
  • Elevate and center the voices of staff and participants of color
  • Acknowledge poverty as a result of systemic oppression
  • Actively dismantle racism in our organization and community

Our Fair Chance Stance

At Rubicon, we believe that all people deserve access to opportunity and economic mobility. As a holistic workforce services provider, we provide comprehensive employment and career services to adults experiencing individual and systemic barriers to quality employment, including but not limited to being formerly incarcerated. In addition to direct service, Rubicon Programs is committed to being a Fair Chance Employer and partner. This commitment is rooted in equity, economic mobility, and belief in transformation.

As an organization, we commit to:

  • Lead with empathy and inclusion in our workplace culture
  • Hire and promote individuals with lived experience in the justice system
  • Partner with East Bay employers to increase access to quality jobs for those who are justice impacted
  • Align our hiring practices to meet and exceed Fair Chance legislation
  • Advocate for systemic updates that reduce barriers to reentry

As our work evolves, so will our stances. We are committed to continuously listening, learning, and leading with integrity. Together, we can build a future of fair chance – for everyone.
