Community Forum on Contra Costa County’s Reentry Strategic Plan

October 24, 2017 • 6:00pm–8:00pm

From Contra Costa County's Office of Reentry & Justice:

Development of Contra Costa's New Reentry Strategic Plan

The ORJ is working with Resource Development Associates (RDA) to lead a strategic planning effort to update the County’s Reentry Strategic Plan that was drafted in 2011.  By updating this document, the ORJ hopes to develop an array of strategies, activities, and goals that are not only responsive to the many changes in our local justice system that have occurred over the past several years, but that also provide interested stakeholders with a shared vision for the future.  To accomplish this, over the next six months RDA and the ORJ will seek out input from service providers, business interests, government agencies, justice involved community members and their families, and others interested in local reentry effort to inform the development process for a new Reentry Strategic Plan for the County, and then RDA will present the plan’s content to the public for further input prior to submitting a final Reentry Strategic Plan to the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors for their endorsement.

We have now scheduled three (3) Community Forums to take place in the end of October 2017 to gather input from people in the County with the experience of being involved with the criminal justice system.  Whether you have supported a friend or loved one in their transition home from prison, have had your own journey from jail back to the community, or work with an organization that provides services to people and families impacted by our criminal justice system – WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR VOICE.

BRINGING YOUR VOICE to our Community Forums will help identify the most important parts of reentry system that works, and how we might improve the reentry experience in Contra Costa.

Some topics of discussion at the forums will include:

In-Custody Programs
Pre-Release/Transition Planning
Community Programs
Mental and Behavioral Health Care
Transitional Housing

We greatly appreciate your partnership in spreading the word about these forums, and thank you in advance for helping to inform and improve our County’s reentry system and strengthen our community as a whole.
